Artist Statement
''Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life" - Pablo Picasso.
I was born and raised in a small corner of the world Georgia, at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, a place known for its natural beauty with its snow-capped majestic mountains, steeped in art and literature since ancient times, where hospitality is not just a tradition but an art form all by itself.
Since early childhood I was attracted to art in its many forms and fortunate in these formative years to have been influenced by my beloved paternal grandmother, a well known heirloom quilt artisan.
Even though my background is jewellery making, over the years I have learned many other art forms such as marbling on paper and silk, art glass and fiber arts.
I am fascinated by Mother Nature's colours and shapes in their limitless abstract expressions and each and every occurring creative inspiration,no matter how fleeting, is greeted and welcomed like Earth, Air, Fire and Water.
This led me to my present passion - hand painted (glazed), kiln fired art tiles.
Hopefully these art tiles will bring you as much aesthetic satisfaction as it gives me immense joy to create them.
Sir Winston Churchill once wrote: "It's not enough to have lived. We should be determined to live for something."
I for one live for my art, and the privilege and opportunity extended to me will be my reward.
